Veterinary Technician

The Beaver County Humane Society, located in Center Township, PA, is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician to assist in all duties relating to the medical care of animals in the shelter as directed by the veterinarian. Full-time position preferred but part-time positions may also be available.

The successful candidate will be able to administer vaccinations and medication, perform euthanasia, place IV catheters, draw blood, perform general physical examinations on all animals entering the facility, perform IV, IM, and SC injections and intubate animals of all sizes. Candidate must have knowledge of general anesthesia techniques and safety, animal handling and restraint and strong knowledge of surgery and recovery. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced surgical environment and have experience with high volume spay/neuter surgeries. This position will require general cleaning, running an autoclave and wrapping instruments and packs. Provide patient care to all species presented, in accordance with organizational procedures and resources. All candidates must have basic computer skills.

CVT required with a minimum of three years’ experience in the veterinary field working as a veterinary assistant or technician. Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays is a must.

Wage: Dependent upon experience and credentials. Benefits package for full-time employment includes vacation and sick time, 100% medical/dental/eye and more.

Hours: 40 hours per week, schedule will vary, based on a fluctuating workload and organizational requirements. The individual performing this job may be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week.

Successful completion of a drug test will be required before the applicant to whom an offer has been extended can assume employment.
